Understanding Myopia and How It’s Treated

Understanding-Myopia

If objects farther away appear to be blurred, there is a high chance that you have myopia. Myopia is also called nearsightedness. It happens if the eyeball is too long. It can also happen if the cornea, which is the clear front cover of your eye, is too curved. As a result, the light entering the eye is not correctly focused so distant objects look blurry.

You should understand that the development of myopia might be affected by how you use your eyes. This means that individuals who spend a considerable amount of time reading, working at a computer and other intense visual work may be more likely to develop the condition.

Before you self-diagnose, it is important that you go to eye check hong kong immediately. Testing for myopia will involve several procedures to gauge how the eyes focus light. Ultimately, it will determine the power of optical lenses needed to correct the vision.

As soon as you confirmed your myopia condition, you should know your treatment options. The good news is that with myopia hong kong, you can regain a clear distance vision through treatments. Here are several options available for you:

Eyeglasses

For correcting myopia, eyeglasses will be your primary choice. When it comes to wearing the eyeglasses, it will depend on the amount of myopia. There are some cases that will require you to wear it only for certain activities like driving, watching a movie or reading. If you have a serious case, you need to wear it at all times.

Typically, a single-vision lens is recommended to provide a clear vision – at all distances. However, for patients that are over 40 or children with myopia because of near-vision work, they may need a progressive or bifocal lens.

Contact lenses

There are those who feel that eyeglasses are not for them. In this case, contact lenses may be used. However, this will require proper care to protect the eyes since they are directly worn. In some cases, it offers a clearer vision and wider field compared to eyeglasses.

Laser procedures

There are many laser procedures but the most common one is LASIK (Laser in Situ Keratomileusis). In this procedure, a laser beam of light will reshape the cornea. It will ultimately remove a small amount of eye tissue. In LASIK, it can remove tissue from the inner layers.

CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy)

CRT is also called Ortho-k. This is a non-surgical procedure, which will require you to wear a series of specially designed stiff contact lenses to gradually reshape the cornea’s curvature. The lenses in CRT will put pressure on the cornea to help it flatten. In the end, it will change how the light will enter the eye.

Final words

Since there are several options available for you, this vision problem will be corrected in no time. During your consultation, you should pick the treatment that best suits your needs and your lifestyle.
